Subject: Mopar PCM Troubles!! PLEASE HELP!! IP: Logged
Message: I have a 92 dakota 318. I bought a used Mopar PCM from a guy that uses the name sneezer(Kevin McClelland) alot around this board and other dakota forums. Ever since I put it in. My check engine light comes on and the truck runs crappy. It shakes alot feels like an earthquake sort of. The code# is 27 which is "Fault in injector driver interface circuit." Dont really know what the heck that means. When i put the stock computer back in the truck runs perfectly fine. Tried contacting him but he is avoiding my emails i guess. Checked connections. Dont know what else to do. Hopefully someone can help! I think this newbie to the dakota modification world got screwed but not too sure. PLEASE HELP!!

Message: Just wanted to clear things up. I apologize for saying that Sneezer(Kevin McClelland) was scamming me or whatnot. I didnt mean to be like that. I was hoping someone could help me get ahold of him. He has responded and is pissed off which i dont blame him. I just was looking for answers. Sorry to Kevin and anyone else this might have pissed off as well.

Message: Seems the one sent is defective or for a differant engine or another year. Try giving the part number to the Dodge dealer to determine year and engine model. Have you tried clearing the code. Might be this was his problem and it was not cleared

Message: KRC says that the mopar computers go off the vehicles vin#.So that might have something to do with it.
A company called BG chrysler in Michigan can reflash mopar computers for 400 bucks

Message: $400 for a VIN flash is kinda shady when i can buy a brand new one for $300. Oh well. Does anyone know how to clear the codes on the computer? It will run fine for a few days and no problems and then it will act up again. Doesnt make sense.

Message: If you have any local Outozones in the area they will clear it for free.I think you would have to put the stock PCM back in the truck first. Its the same deal with superchips if you buy one used you have to go threw Superchips to clear the Vin code and that is just about as much as a new Programer. Sorry to here this happened to you just remember WE Learn From Our Mistakes.

Message: Kyle - it's not $400 for a vin flash, he's talking about a performance flash for your regular pcm.

Message: Thanks for the clarification Kowalski. Any ideas why the Mopar PCM goes days and runs fine and then decides it doesnt want to work right anymore and causing the truck to run crappy and have the check engine light come on. Just doesnt make sense how it can run fine for a few days and then be horrible the next couple and then go back to being fine again. Thanks for all the help guys! This forum site has really educated me about my dak. and the common problems people have and the solutions to fix them.

Message: Was this the correct part for your year truck ? Electrical devices can have intermittent problems sometimes, could be an internal component going bad; or a bad connection at one of the pins. Do you know why the last owner was selling it ? If the problem goes away and stays away when you use your original PCM, I'd think the part is bad or incompatible. Sometimes when people know they are selling bogus junk, they will try not to respond, and then respond agressively as you described to try to get away with it. Not saying that's what's going on here for sure, but I've seen that pattern.

Message: I dont see anywhere on it that shows a part#. I cleaned all the post with a cuetip and got quite a bit of dirt off them. Didnt use water just the cuetip. lol dont worry. Im going to go out and hook it up and see what happens. Last time i disconnected it and check the connection as soon as i hooked it back up it ran like crap so im going to hook it up again now that ive cleaned it and see what happens. Probably wont work though but im trying anything.
