I put a Gen 2 FIPK on my RT last night, and well needless to say I went out and drove it for a couple of hours. But thats besides the point, right after the install I started it up and let it idle for a couple minutes, pulled on the throttle cable and the likes, just to make sure everything was good. Everything ran fine, nothing blew up, but when I reved the engine it sounded like I had a loose belt and it was much louder too. Not that I would have because I didnt touch the belts, but my buddy said it was just the K&N sucking in air, and that now with out the stock airbox on there the sound wasnt muffled as much and hence the increase in engine noise. I also noticed that at idle it seemed a little rougher and louder. Now is this all normal? Or do I have something not quite tight in the setup?

mine did the same... i thought it was a squeak at first also...but its just the air sucking in ( i love that sound ) i put dynamat coverring my whole interior so i dont hear all the extra noise you do but it was louder when i was pulling the throttle cable checking to make sure it was air sucking in not a squeak

Dynamat??? What the hell is that? Does it just mask engine noise? Or like everything including the throaty exhaust too?

Dynamat is a sound-deadening material with an adhesive back. You can put it anywhere you want to deaden sound. It is pretty expensive, however. You can find it at Summit, Crutchfield, etc.

They have various "sound deafening" products. I have had good luck dealing with them.
