Subject: 2002/4.7 Clutch Problems/Help? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2002 Dak Quad Cab 4wd 70K miles. Rolled up to a stop sign this weekend tried to put the clutch in and it felt like I was pushing on the brake, clutch would not go down, pushed harder and peddle went to the floor, hydraulic fluid all over the road, from my bell housing. Removed the slave and it's blown out. That's bad, but also seems like the clutch release fork is not even close to where it should be. I would think that I would just be able to put my finger in and feel it. Anyhow, tried to remove the clutch master/slave and reservoir assembly and the Brake master cylinder seems to be in the way. Is this just a crappy design, or am I missing something? Also, rear seal where the yoke is on the differential is leaking.
Is it time to get all this stuff fixed and sell the truck, sure seems like it!!!
Anyone have any advise or had similar problems/issues with 2002 clutches?
Terry

Message: Sorry. I'm of no help here. My QC has 73K miles and not a hint of trouble with the clutch (or anything else).

Message: in very cold weather my hyd. clutch tends to get stiff when parked overnight below -25*C (Canada)
a few slow pumps brings it back too life but prolonged highway driving at that same temperature also causes the same issue.

Message: The slave valve on my '01 4.7 5-speed 2wd went out at 115K. I went ahead and changed the clutch anyway at the same time for the next 100K, at least.
