While driving under steady conditions, at 65 mph, my trans slipped. The RPMs went from about 2250 rpm to 3000 rpm for 2-3 seconds and then returned to normal. This happened 2-3 times over 2 days. I checked the fluid level and needed to add a pint. It happened again after topping off the fluid. The trans seems normal in all other gears. I changed the filter and fluid about 2000 miles ago, did band adjustment too.

Is the transmission starting to go out???
Could the band adjustment cause this??
Can a bad solinoid cause this??
Is there something I can do to troubleshoot and isolate the problem (i.e. pressure check)??

Out of the dozens of threads on this subject on this site, there are a few basic considerations.

1. When changing the fluid, flush the tranny, don't just pop the pan and refill.

2. Refit with a Mopar brand filter and refill with Dexron 4+ ATF Mopar brand only.
Some folks have had success with Amsoil and other brands, but not me.

3. Change the fluid as close as possible to the manufacturer's intervals.

4. Do not use a tranny additive. Friend of mine had a shop add "Lucas" and the internal pressure got too high and blew out all the seals. I did it myself and used "Slick 50" and made the tranny slip real bad. Had it flushed real good and put in Mopar only. No more problem.

The other problem could be your TPS (Throttle Position Sensor ) It will give similar symptoms.
