Subject: NV3500 to NV4500... IP: Logged
Message: Ok guys, I need some help, so I need as many people's input as possible. I've got a 1998 Dak 4x4 CC with a 5.2L in front of an NV3500 that has now broken for a second time and I'm sick of it. Now, I have a 5.9L that I am planning to build up and drop in, to have somewhere in the neighborhood of 400-450hp and I want a tranny behind it that isn't going to snap when I drop my foot on the accelerator. I have been told that the NV4500 will work, that it will bolt up to the bell housing pattern on the 5.9L, that is the same length, bell housing to tail shaft, as an NV3500 and that it has the same bolt pattern for the NP231 T-cases that come with the Dakotas. I understand that the NV4500 is taller than the NV3500 and will require either a body lift or cutting the floorboard in order to fit underneath the body without changing the frame crossmembers. What I want to know is specifics, prefferably someone who has DONE this or has seen/heard/participated in this happening. I want all the details, specifically, what was done to fit it, where and how the shift tower was adapted to the Dakota since that is in a different location from the NV3500 to NV4500. So, please help!!! I need to get my Dak back on the road!!!
