I have a 2000 Dakota (an RT quad cab). Recently I noticed the sound of sloshing water inside the cab while driving. When I lifted up the floormat on the passenger side, the carpet was soaked. I pulled out trim, lifted the carpet and found quite a bit of water in front and in the back passenger side. At first I thought the door seal was leaking. Later, I found this not to be the case. The leak was coming from the sidewall directly across from where the passenger's right foot would be. There is a small machined hole right at the base of the A-pillar (forward of the dooor hinge) that water was flowing out of. Evidently, there must be some type of drain plugged somewhere and the water is backing up and coming out the machined hole. I checked the drivers side, and this hole at the base of the A-pillar / sidewall is not there. Anyone else ever have a problem like this before? I'd hate to think of how much water would get in if the vehicle was left outside unattended for a long period. What I found was bad enough.

I had a simular issue with a 91 maxima I had. It turns out when
the Heater Core goes out it leaks coolant right where the
passengers feet would be. It soaked right through the carpet.

I hope this isn't your problem. Check your coolant level to make
sure its not all gone. You could also smell the fluid to make
sure it's not coolant.

It sounds strange that this would just start leaking out of the
blue. I would think something has had to be done (damage/
recent work) to get this to start leaking all of a sudden.

Best of luck!

Good point. In this case, it is not the heater core and there is no coolant smell. It is just plain water and I was able to verify that by finding the exact location of the leak while going through an automatic car wash. Thanks.
