If I bought lift blocks do I have to get ones for the dakota i have a 97 cc 4X4 or can I just get universal blocks

Universal blocks will work if (and here's the common sense answer you could have figured out yourself) they're not any wider than your leaf springs, but not much narrower either.
You'll also need longer spring clips, also called U-bolts.
