I was cruising K&N's site for filter info, when I came across a recall for FIPK plastic tubes that may break off and jam the throttle open!!! 1997-99 5.2 and 1997-2003 5.9 Daks are affected. www.knfilters/FIPK/tuberecall

Good catch. Mine is split in the indented area of the bonnet that bolts down onto the throttle body.It allows unfiltered air into the throttle body.
Just called them and first he wanted me to email some photos of the piece. Told him I don't have a digital camera and yes my part was covered as per the website info on the recall and yes it had already split. Then he said they would ship a replacement and send me info on how to return the original. They're going to want a copy of the sales receipt (of course). Good thing it's in the K&N box with the stock filter set-up out in my garage. Sounds like this is going to take awhile to get this POS replaced.

Mine was cracked as well. They sent me a replacement about a
month ago. I still havent gotten around to sending the old one
back. I'm not sure if they reall want it or not. They haven't sent me
any notices or anything. I have it, I'm just lazy I guess. I need to
get around to sending it.

K&N SHOULD step up on this recall, especially since they have sold plenty of $50 FIPK parts for $300+ retail.

K&N has lived up to thier responsibilities in my opinion. I called them today and discussed the the crack in my airhat and they simply took my info over the phone and said I would receive a new unit in 3-5 days along with a return authorization so that I could return the old unit. They did not even ask for any proof of purchase from me even though I offered to provide it.

Update;
Took them only a week to get the new airhat to me.
Still haven't got any info on sending the old one back.
Looks like they are stepping up to the plate on this one. Good job K&N.

definetly good job to K&N and they will continue to get my business in the future. my tube cracked twice with only finger tightening it and they replaced it for free both times. The new tube i got is clearly thicker and stronger than the others.
