KEEP THE OIL CHANGED EVERY 3,000 MILES WITHOUT FAIL AND GET TIRES ROTATED EVERY SECOND OIL CHANGE. KEEPS DAKOTA ON A SMOOTH RUNNING COURSE THAT WAY. 173,682 AND STILL RUNNING STRONG.

I bought an Opel, European GM, I have done 10,600km and have not changed the oil yet. The car is an Aglia 1.2, 4 cylinder.
The oil look fairly black and a bit low, but Opel say the service interval, read oil change interval, is 30,000 km. I think 3000 miles equals 5000 km .
So after reading these posts I am changing my oil as soon as possible - synthetic ofcourse.
But what are Opel talking about 30,000km service intervals it equals about 18,000 miles between oil changes?
I drive this car far and hard.... over a 2757 metre mountain pass today!!! I think I might be lucky the engine did not crock...

What if cost doesn't matter?

If I change my '01 Accord 4cy w/ 35k every 2500 miles with syntetic oil consistantly, how many mile do you think I can get from the life of this car?
My choice is Mobil 1 and Castrol's, which is better?
Most of my driving is 5 or 10min stop and go in the city. Which Fram's oil filter should I use; TG, X2, or DG?
In a midwest climate of 3 months of every season, which grade should I use; 5w30 or 10w30?
Would adding the fuel injector cleaner fluid to my fuel every 10k help? Is it really worth it?

I welcome any comment. My purpose is to properly maintain my car.

Oil changes are cheap insurance.

If you change your accords oil every 2500 and use Mobil synthetic, use any oil filter you like, it won't matter because on that engine you won't produce anything to put in the filter anyways. That Honda engine will run longer than the body of the car will last if you maintain it that well. Do the same for your tranny and coolant, and you'll have that accord for the rest of your life. I have a friend with a early 90's accord, and he drives it as hard and fast as it will go. It has over 300,000 on it. He changes his oil quite often.

Don't believe the BS in the booklet that says you can go 7500 miles on an oil change. That only applies if you drive 7500 miles all at once, on a flat dust free road, in a climate controlled bubble, at 65 MPH, at 72 degrees, 50% relative humidity, with a slight tailwind, and you have to be dropped by a plane (no accelleration or decelleration) aka:normal conditions. LOL

They just want to sell you another Accord.

Take care of that beautiful machine.

Out...
