Subject: Transgo 45RFE-HD2 kit IP: Logged
Message: Those of you that are disappointed with the way the 45RFE/545RFE shifts can buy the Transgo 45RFE-HD2 or SK45RFE kit to install in the your tranny. It isn't much harder than changing your trans fluid. There's only six - 8mm bolts and a main wiring connector holding the valvebody in. You then pull off the accumulator cover replace the seals and install support rings with them, replace several springs and 1 valve. Then put the cover back on, bolt the VB back in, plug in the harness, replace the filters and fluid. There's also a resistor that you solder in parallel with your line pressure sensor. The 45RFE-HD2 kit has some parts that require you to remove your transmission but, these are optional pieces and aren't needed to get your tranny shifting better. Installing this kit and disabling the TMR signal between the TCM and PCM have got my transmission shifting much better. The shifts are quick but not harsh. As a matter of fact, when you're just toolin' around town you don't notice any difference but, when you put your foot in it, the quicker shifts (and in my case the lack of TMR) really help with acceleration. In my vehicle when it shifts under heavy throttle the vehicle lunges forward with a boost of acceleration.
I bought my kit off of eBay and saved about 35% here:
