Message: i bought my truck about three months ago, and now that it is getting colder i tried the heater and sometimees i get barely warm air, but most of the time i dont get any heat at all.
i have replace the thermostat, water pump, and have flushed the system.
im thinking it might be the heater core. it is not leaking and when i take the hose off the return, water does comes out.
so my question is does this sound like a plugged up heater core?

Message: Maybe not a plugged heater core, but some kind of restriction in one of the lines. A cooling system flush would be a good start.

Message: Not an easy job changing the heater core. Do all your home work first. disconnest both hoses to the heater and try running water through it with a garden hose. Don't use full presure. Just enough so there is a solid stream coming through. Flush it both ways. Be sure your heat is turned to high. If it is pluged, most likely someone used stop leak in your radiator. If not pluged, Then most likely your heater is airlocked after filling. Fill it back up and find a really steep bank you can use to get the front end up really high with. Give it some gas a few times with heater running on high till you get good heat. Then top off your anti-freeze. Always works for me.
So many problems .... So little time

Message: some have had problems with sticky heater deflector doors not opening. I myself have noticed that sometimes when I switch from defroster to vent it sometimes takes awhile for the switch to be made in my Durango before hot air comes out the vents. I remember years ago they were mechanically operated by cable. Now i have no idea how they work.
