Subject: Transmission Control Module IP: Logged
Message: graphite dak i hope you read this one because i think u posted something abut this.....what year did they start intergrating the TCM into the PCM? nd if you dont know then how would u tell if it was....would there still be that black box by the passenger headlight if it was intergrated?

Message: I think it was still seperate your your year, but not sure what year the change was. I think when they changed, the black box you are talking about (commonly called the PCM) got 4 wiring connectors to it, instead of the 3 mine has. How many connections to yours ?

Message: For Dakotas, 2004 was the first model year with the "New Generation Controller"(NGC), which incorporated PCM and TCM.
You can tell if your truck has the NGC by looking at the PCM. If it has 4 connectors side-by-side, you got one. If you ony have 3 connectors on your PCM, you don't.
