Hey guys, looking for a suggestion here..
i got a '98 dak. 5.2 V8 . I installed a performance pcm and it works really smooth and fast. Yet when i give full gas, the truck will take off (of course) and my rpm will go all the way to 5000 before even letting go of first gear.
(my rpm tops @ 6000) is this normal.? If
not..what can i do about it ? Thanks guys.

these are the trucks mods lately..intake/exhaust
headers, mopar ignition kit, bored out T.B, bored out manifold (all the way) , electric fan , size 17 tires, and burned the spare tire.

Full throttle aplication should delay shifting - if you want it to shift sooner, just let up.

Thanks kowalski..got one stupid question.."full throttle application" ? does this mean to just press on the accelerator all the way? (to delay) and for next gear just let go off gas? ...thanks again.

Yup, that's how it works, so you have maximum acceleration when you want it. Be wise for you to take it easy though; sounds like you're just learning how to drive if you weren't aware of this...

i had this pcm for a while, yet i was happy as i was, until i installed it and there was a difference (rush) yet the mechanical functions were not right..thats what i question. and yes it seems one must be carefull or there goes the engine. the reason i was holding off on installing it was cause i did not knew from what model dakota it came from. well still dont know, yet it works. thanks for the info .
