Message: Well Adam. It depends on year, OBDI or OBDII emissions compliance, how deep your pockets are, and can you find someone to do the structural and electrical fab work.

Message: they are blowing this way out of perporsion. its not hard. find a donor truck. make sure its the same, obd1 or 2. then swap the manual in, gotta cut the hole. dont forget the flywheel. you will need to replace your computer with the one from the donor. then you will have to install the clutch linkage from the donor. not too hard. emissions have nothing to do with it.

Message: an easier solution would be wat i did. I sent the valvebody in my 46re auto trans out to wayne at apsprecision.com and he installed a shift kit and some other modifications to make it a manual shift only so that watever gear the indicator reads is the gear its in with no exceptions. I also had him send me some custom pistons and springs that i installed while the valvebody was out and it wasnt too hard. i got a b&m megashifter on the floor to make it more fun to shift and its one of the best mods ive done. only thing to keep in mind is ur pcm will have to be reprogrammed to a manual program. its not quite a manual tranny but u will never have issues with shift points and missed shifts and all the other issues the stock trans has. much easier to do than a manual swap and costs about 800 bucks for everything needed to do the job.

Message: This may not apply but we did this in a 92 Mustang one time and at the "too late to go back" point we were regretting the whole thing. It was a BIG headache.
