 Subject: Weird smell

i have a 93 5.2l, and a 350w amp to power my sub, when i crank it up really loud my truck makes a weird smell, its not really burning but almost sweet, but its not coolant, any suggestions?

probably ozone you smell that the electronics make. Turn your speakers up more. You can either replenish the ozone layer or go deaf.

you smell the circuit board in the amp getting hot.... typical odor for amps espacilly when mounted in the passenger compartment.... the odor should go away pending if its a brand new amp.... if not then keep that little red bottle handy incase a fire breaks out.... ive had that happen... and it made the last time i buy used amps...

that smell may also be from your speaker components not being able to sustain the output of your amp. Meaning if you dont lower the volume...you will burn 'em out. By the way what brand of amp you got? some amps have a relay that shuts em off as security ,when something not working right.
