Ok, I know this is a Dakota website and I WAS the proud owner of one. However, I have since traded it in for a 2001 Ram 1500 4x4 5.9l. Here is where my problems begin. The check engine light came on and it gives the code "PO171 System too lean (Bank 1)". I have since replaced the O2 sensors and checked for vacuum leaks. Where do I go from here? Suggestions welcome...

Did you clear the codes after you replaced the parts?

Could be a plugged or blocked injector.
The only way I know to verify is to swap the left and right injectors to see if the problem moves to the other side.

Here's what my FSM says could be the problem:

RESTRICTED FUEL SUPPLY LINE
FUEL PUMP INLET STRAINER PLUGGED
FUEL PUMP MODULE
O2 SENSOR
O2 SIGNAL CIRCUIT
O2 RETURN CIRCUIT
O2 SENSOR HEATER OPERATION
THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE GREATER THAN 0.92 VOLTS WITH THROTTLE
CLOSED
THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR SWEEP
MAP SENSOR
ECT SENSOR
ENGINE MECHANICAL PROBLEM
FUEL FILTER/PRESSURE REGULATOR (HIGH)
PCM

Some of that stuff is really a stretch, and notice the complete absence of possible injector malfunction (unless it's included in the ENGINE MECHANICAL PROBLEM category).

You might have more issues then you want to deal with. Check voltage form the PCM plug in to the O2 plug in with a HIGH impeadence test light. Also check just normal ground and power to the O2 sensor plug. If you are getting power and ground then you probably need a new PCM
