Does any company make a short throw shifter for a 2002 4x4 Dakota. 4.7L 5spd. Also what other simple mods seem to help the 4.7L a lot. Please help. Mike E

Hurst makes a short throw shifter for a manual 5 speed NV trans. It's about 30 percent shorter throw. I dont know if it will fit a 2002's dash configuration. Mine is a 2000 and it just clears when in 1st, 3rd and 5th.

google/ask.com/yahoo/summit racing/so on and so forth, revealed that the Hurst Competition Plus Shifter, Part #391055, fits the NV3500 transmison, Dakota, year model 94-00. $169.95 at Summit. Will fit your 02' if you fashion a 1/4" (some one else can give you exacts) spacer out of billet or sheet metal, to fit between the base of the shifter and the tranny. Worth it!

Ordered one from Summit two months ago and still waiting for it. They,ve backed up the arrival time four times. Hurst appears to be a major wanker lately

thats cool. Does anyone happen to know what exactly needs to be done in order for this to fit. I just bought the truck saturday and love it. But this shift needs to be more firm feeling and shorter.

Cancelled my order with Summit(two months backorder) and called Jeggs. Got the shifter in two days! Still need to make the spacer yet.
