Subject: 2000 Dak 360 looking to buy? IP: Logged
Message: I'm looking to buy a 2000 dak with a 360 quad cab with about 80000 miles on it for 8k. Ut appears to be in great shape. I could hardly find a ding on it. Anyone have anything great or negative to say about dakotas particulary for this year model?
thanks
Bill

Message: Still happy with my '00, although some later years got larger front brakes.

Message: The QC was introduced in the 2000 model year. (November 1999 was when they became available for sale.)
In addition to the R/T, you could get the 5.9L V8 in a QC. I think the engine was dropped (across all lines) starting with the 2004 model year.

Message: except for gas mileage I'm extremely happy with my 2000 QC 4x4 5.9 Sport. I've got 120,000 on it with nothing more than routine maintainence.

Message: MADMAXIN22 - Why would you think that ? You were recently told in another thread that the '00 QC was available with the 5.9; and were also told how to check on how long it was offered that way...

Message: I've been happy with my 2000 QC 4X4 5.9 Auto. This past weekend, I pulled the clutch fan, put in a 180 stat, single 70-Series Flowmaster to compliment the JBA ceramics I put on it last month. It now sounds HOT, and runs cool...137,000 miles and going strong.

Message: I agree with Kowalski. I have a 2000 quadcab but with a 4.7L. Everything is great on the 2000 models except give yourself a few extra feet to stop. The brakes are a little small for a quadcab. Compared to my other trucks, the Dakota will stop fine but gets a little exciting if a car pulls up short infront of you.

Message: mccamp, my brakes have been pretty good since I got new rotors and some ceramic pads from Napa. They ain't cheap but are supposed to last longer plus less mess on your wheels :) for a guy like me that washes his truck oh, 3 times a year that's a good thing.

Message: Have a 2000 CC R/T
160000KM(99500MI)
Bone Stock Eng/Tranny. Pulls 18' flat trailer with a Sprint (Oval) Race Car 1100lbs, and all tools/ tires (~600 lbs) in the box just fine all over Western Canada and NW USA. With the factory Tranny Cooler at an outside temp of 115 degrees no problems! Passing most rice boy civics up and DOWN mountains with the trailer and yes a Ceramic brake upgrade helps a LOT- (60,000MI on the pads and still lots of wear on orig rotors!) Only thing for maintenance was tie rods and ball joints (DUH!), front wheel bearings (too much autocrossing with a 4000lb TRUCK). Now noticing front frost plugs seeping coolant just below the water pump/timing cover - after changing the water pump thinking that was the problem... Now my interior dome lights won't shut off at all for the second time - first was years ago under warranty - in the front left A pillar a wire rubbed through its insulation and was shorting out...
That pretty well describes almost 7 years of my Amber Fire 'Pumpkin' R/T
