Subject: 4.7 HO IP: Logged
Message: What is the newest HO 4.7 that I can use to replace the 01 4.7 without doing a monkey dance to get it to funtion with the o1 wiring? If I overpressure the 01 I need to know my options as to jeep-v-dodge, and how new I can search for.

Message: I think you may be in for the monkey dance no matter what you use. The HO motor wasn't offered in the older Daks, and requiers wiring, like for the knock sensors, not in your '01. The PCM also interfaces with the dash; I don't think a Jeep HO PCM will run your dash, and there will be other differences - but that might be your best bet if you want to try it. You might be better off building up the 4.7 already in your Dak ? Most of the torque of the HO motor can be had with the cam swap, and a bit of ignition advance will help too - then you'll just be down .5 in compression from the HO. Throw in a hotter cam, some freer breathing, and some lower gears - and you'd be way ahead of that nightmare project for maybe the same coin ?

Heck, if you want to spend a few bucks and still be N/A motor. Check out KRC's parts for it.
Just going with the high compression pistons would do some serious gains. Coupled with some hot cams, (and valve springs) and some other mods I bet it's worth 100HP
They have a 4.7 build up that is OVER 400HP all motor. But it needs PCM programming with all the other stuff.

Message: i saw on our links page that mopar has 'drop in' motors... like the 360's with 400+ HP all motor... is that what you mean by needing nothing but PCM? or are those more compicated...cuz thatd be sweet to put one of those in...less hassle then say a hemi

Message: Guess thats the way to go. Find a low milege 01 or 02 4.7 for a spare- put some HO cams in the present engine and add a mechanical lung. Run it till it blows and pop in the spare. Bye for now.
