Yep I have looked into that and that is next on my list auctually. I also might spray a small shot of N20 to cool the charge. (like a 30 shot)

Whichever does the trick ;)

I've got to wait until we get Rammer's truck working reliably before I throw a turbo on my Dakota!

with you guys talkin about all these turbos and stuff its pretty kol. i always looked at turbos for imporst and such but after "jeff" posted that thread.... wow i am 100%convinced that a turbo is the way to go. idk if it takes years but a turbo will be instore for my truck.

actually i know it will take years. i dont got that kinda money and my truck is costin me alot in attorneys and fines as it is lol. some day.

the water/meth. injection would be the way to go. SNOW PERFORMANCE has a variable feed rate for less than $400. it sprays in a controlled amount depending on boost.

i ordered those multi layer steel head gaskets this morning. should be here friday. cost was $195 shipped. i figured i have it apart i shoulnt be cheap and have to do it over again!

Clint. Unlike a Supercharger, a bare bones Borg Warner T04 is only $400

Add a waste gate and Blow Off Valve and you may be at $700

Fabricate the piping and the basic stup is under $1k and then you need soemthing about the fuel and timing retard like Rammer is facing.

Unless you like blowing up head gaskets!

now when we talk fabing its mostly fabing up the header right? or no wait if its only a single turbo then were do you put it? and what about electronit stuff? im just tryin to get the general idea of what is involved.

fabing everything is the most involved part. i have my drivers side bank going in same direction as the factory y-pipe then connects to the pasengers side bank. i cut a window into pas. side manafold and removed the deflector inside that directs gases toward the cat. then from there i had a pipe coming to my turbo. some people done thing it will wrk but it does. it flows really well and it was cheap. just some extra scrap steal i already had.
if youre going to do it your sely try not to go to thin of metal. the weight of the turbo might bend or break the mounts if not strong enough. i might have went a little thicker than needed but i always make things stronger than needed for reliability. plus the thicker metal should hold the heat in better than thin wall.

do you think a muffler shop could do that? cuz i personaly dont have a welder but if a muffler shop cant do that i can get someone with a welder too do it. but what about wiring? how involved is that? i looked around for a kit and turbor technologies had one for 5 grand!!! ya tihnk 6-7 psi would be low enough to keep from blowin anything?

6-7 psi is ok i think. boost is addicting, once you feel the rush of the turbo, and the sound of the blow off valve you will be hooked. there isnt much wiring for a turbo. but for the boost timing retarder i dont know about that, i ordered it today i should have it in 2-4 days. my head gaskets will be here tomorrow!

so i need to tell people this wekens when they call for no a/c, that im booked up

The timing retard is simple to do. Even a retard could hook it up. Lol. One wire for an tach singal, and the other wire alters the coil signal. Then there is a ground. Thats It!. Than you run the knob somewhere in the cab.

2" out let seems small. my to4 has about an 3" out let. you want to have as little restriction out of the tail piping as possible. need a big cat (if any) and a high flowing muffler(if any).

a waste gate is a butterfly or a valve(depending on internal or external) that bypasses the turbine wheel to keep boost from going higher and higher. and to keep boost at a set psi.

a blow off valve is a vaccum activated valve that open with vaccum to let pressure out when the throttle is closed/ or partially closed so the built up pressure wont bend or break the compressor wheel or turbos shaft.
you know it makes the cool sound of a WOOSH!!

well got her up and runin yesterday.
took it to the track last night, i still dont have the msd btr yet and dont have the fuel reg. installed yet. i hit an 14.4 with letting way off little over half track cause detonation. it definatly pulls hard. by bro in law was surprised when it hits hard right from the light. just had a proble with it idling, had to almost power brake it the whole time while going threw staging

Wow Rammer actually posted before I did...

That was funny. He ran the truck twice initially just as "test and tune" while other cars were bracket racing. The first run I was watching form the stands and he got a 14.6
The second run I rode with him and it started to detonate so he let off and managed a 14.8

Then we parked it and watched for the night. At the end of the night (at about 2AM) there were leftover cars from the bracket racing going back and running over and over as almost everyone had left. I jump in the Ram with him and we go up against one of the Nissan 350Z cars that was bracket racing before.

Rammer's truck detonates at about 2/3 track so he lets off and then gets back into it. And WTF we ran a 14.4 (his best yet) against that 350Z car and beat his a$$!

i've seen many turbo setups on older mopars and trucks, turbo is setup underneath car, long tube headers 2 into 1 pipe (y)into turbo, then the whole turbo jazz,(outlet, blow wastegate, intercooler...) then out the rear for exhaust, works just as good allows stock looking engines great for dakota r/t's with 6 speed conv.
mount intercooler undewrneath car with skitplate bracing covering it on a slight angle backwards so air still moves over it.

Rammer installed the MSD timing controller tonite.

We didn't hear any more detonation.

He bought this from Lopers Performance. They said it would LOWER fuel pressure via the set screw/nut and boost would bring it back up. If it really works that way, he may be able to keep them 39# injectors. It runs RICH right now.

ive seen the turbos mounted where the mufflers are, seem to be ok but i bet they have alot of turbo lag. and if the oil pump for the turbo goes out you are screwed. the btm works good. i have it start to pull timing out around 3-4 psi and about 1/2 degree or so of timing per lb. of boost. tryed higher setting but didnt feel as responsive.

any one want to buy 1.7 rockers (non-roller)
shorty headers, and an under drive crank pulley with belt?
