I was wondering how much i can tow with my 01 QC 4.7? I have a boat that we tow with my dads truck because he has a ram with the 360. So does anyone know how much the truck is spec'd at?

its mainly in the rearend gears but if you have the low 3.55s than in the 6000lb range. if you have the 3.92s gears its close to 7000+lbs

Go to Dodge.com/towing, plug in your truck's specs, and it'll spit out the towing capacity. Is yours 4x4 or 4x2?
My 04 4x4 Quad with 4.7 and 3.55s is maxed at 4400 pounds, would be 5700 pounds with 3.92s.
Take whatever number the site spits out, subtract for weight of any passengers beyond you and any cargo you carry, and also any heavy accessories like step bars or grill guard, and that's your safe max for long distance or regular basis towing at highway speeds. I'd say if you're just going a couple miles down the road to the lake every now and then, as long as your within a couple hundred pounds of that number in either direction you should be OK.

IF it's a sport auto you're at 4700 pounds with 3.55 and 5700 with 3.92 but it SLT, base, and Sport plus will be different.

The engine can handle more weight than what the Dakota is rated to tow. Check out Ram 1500s with the 4.7 engine and you'll find it is rated higher than the Dakota with the same drivetrain. The difference lies in the frame, suspension, and brakes.
