Subject: Cam sensor location '03 Dakota IP: Logged
Message: Hello,
I have a 2003 Dakota 4.7L.
It's setting codes P0016, P0340, P0344
I'm figuring the the cam sensor is bad by the codes.
Can anyone please tell me where exactly the cam sensor is located?
Thanks

Message: The camshaft position sensor is located as follows:
On the passenger side cylinder head, outboard and forward just below the expanded part (where the timing chain lives) of the cylinder head cover (or valve cover, if you prefer). It's there because that's where the camshaft timing ring is.
The crankshaft position sensor is on the same side of the engine, but down on the block, all the way back, tucked neatly under the exhaust manifild.
