I know for sure that isn't true. They did change some of the cam and or crank sensors or triggers a couple years later, not sure exactly what year, but it wasn't the very next year. There was a minor change to one of the intake manifold sensors soon after though - if that was the next year, you could just swap intakes, or change that sensor wiring.

I don't think the PCM that controls your later year 4.7 will interface correctly with your dashboard; and might also have an integrated transmission controller (if auto) rather than the seperate one like the older 4.7's. - might be better to figure out which cam/crank ignition triggers need to bee changed to work correctly with your PCM.

Except for these points, your '00 4.7 is pretty much the same as the others. I think you could swap in at least an '01; someone will likely weigh in with when this change actually took place.

I bet he could just use his existing intake and sensors. I don't think anything was mounted any differently to were you could not.

The only main differences was the 4.7 to the 4.7HO which had some different sensor configurations.

I have a 2003 Dakota 4.7 and also a 2000 4.7 that I bought for my car.

So far I haven't seen anything different except the intake and Throttle Body were different but you could swap either one of those and still work fine.

GD - does your '03 have the seperate PCM and TCM ? I think they might have changed the triggering the same year they went to transmission control integrated with the PCM - I remember someone else having trouble with this quite a while ago - he hasn't said how new a 4.7 he is trying to install.
