Subject: Cooling system IP: Logged
Message: After driving My V8 2000, the radiator cooling tank where you add the antifreeze is boiling. The truck is not running hot but the temp gage does not flucuate, just stays at 220 degree. Could it be the thermostat??

Message: When you shut down, the engine overheats because there is no cooling, and the heat from the engine pushes the expanded coolent into the (oveflow) tank and that could sound like boiling. If the radiator and tank are at the proper levels in the morning, everything is okay.
220 degrees is not overheating, but if it recently went there after being at a significantly lower temperature it's whole life, you might want a radiator shop to check the system. You could do an "old mechanics" test by feeling the back of the radiator when it is at operating temperature. Mine was 2/3 cold, meaning plugged. But the gauge read normal. Temperature just rose under load. (www.Radiator.com)
You will turn off the engine before poking your pinkies in there, won't you?
