Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the tailstock seal on a dakota with a 45rfe leaking after driving at higher speeds 185km/h plus. It seems to start leaking after driving fast. I put a new seal in and its fine until i drive fast then it leaks. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Have you checked to see if the vent is plugged?

running a programmer i see. that could be the cause of it. don't the programmers raise the line pressure in the 45/545rfe auto's for firmer shifts? line pressure may be getting a little excessive.

just a guess.

I get a small intermittant leak on the tailshaft of my transfer case on my 00.. Never have lost any detectable amount of fluid though.. (just a tiny drip or 2 over a few months on the driveway... If it starts dripping more, I will replace the seal

I think the programmer mainly kills the "Torque Management Request" in the PCM during hard throttle shifts. I am not sure if the tranny line pressure is being altered.

I know mine barks the tires pretty damn good sometimes.

No leak so far here. But it's a 4X4 like Daffy's.
