Subject: Gas Odor IP: Logged
Message: I drive a 1993-5.2 2wd excab auto. Lately in Vancouver it has hit 30 plus celsius, I have noticed a gas odor around the gas tank with the hot weather, no gas leaking. Anyone know what it would be?

Message: Maybe gas filler tube, or the gasket on the tank that the tube goes in.
A dealer will have the gasket, but not the tube.
Napa should have the tube.

Message: If you have had any work done involving the fuel system which required the fuel pump to be accessed then you might be experiencing fuelpump seal leakage.
They don't replace the seal they use the original one again which tends to leak.
I also had the fuel pump cover (thing which locks it down) come loose after they (dealer) worked on my truck. Reach up and feel around the fuelpump on top of the tank, if you find moisture then the tank is leaking.
