 Subject: starting

i am having touble starting my 95 dakota 5.2 v8. it seems like the battery is dead but its fine. i turn the key and all i get is lights and it wont turn over. in order to start it i have to put the shifter in drive and slam it back into park and take the key out and try it again. i think it is either the neutral safety switch or the starter, can anyone help me?

Sounds like neutral safety switch bad or not making.
