Well, I brought the Dak into my local Dodge dealer today because its been sputtering when I accelerate from a stop. Anyways, the "service agent" did a $150 diagnosis check and here are their findings:
"Your tires are too big for the truck and the transmission has to compensate for the wideness." Hold on, it gets better, he goes on to tell me: "You need to go back to your stock tires because the transmission is shifting quicker." What the hell does this have to do with my engine sputtering and dying?!
Ok, I also have a Jacobs energy pak and he continues: "Your aftermarket ignition thingy is also contributing to the engine sputtering especially when it gets wet." Yup, this fool actually called it a thingy.
My question is, how do these fools get their jobs??!! They don't know jack sh1t about cars! FYI, I have 255-55R18s that I've had for over 4 years with no problems and my Jacobs has been in the truck for over two years. Does anyone know what could be causing the sputtering? I am thinking one of the O2 sensors (upstream or downstream) is about to fail but not to the point where their "diagnostic" computers can locate a code. Could the air/fuel mixture be too lean and thus cause the problems. Does anyone know what I can do to trigger a check engine code? My friend told me to drive it on the freeway then stop it at the exit and then floor it. He supposedly did that to his Grand Cherokee when he was having similar problems and it triggered the code. Also, the truck goes wild when it gets wet, sputters, dies, etc. My mileage is at 54000 and its a 2000. I also told the service agent that I might just go ahead and have the O2's replaced and he replied: "If we replace your sensors, I'd be stealing your money." Hell, they already raped me for $150 with B.S. results!
Help!

Message: If it gets worse when it's wet out...you could be getting water under your distributor cap. Might wanna see about replacing that...might as well do the rotor while you're at it.

Thanks, I changed my cap/rotor a few moths back with the brass one. Looks to be fine for now. Got any more advice?? What do you think about the O2s?

Message: Jacobs are notorious for failing. I would try removing it and see if you still have the problem.

daddio.. it doesn't really matter if its cold or hot. but, it feels like it wants to die when i'm stuck in freeway traffic.
