 Subject: jeep 3.9 vs. dodge 3.9

I blew the old motor in my 99 dakota so I put in a 3.9 out of a jeep cherokee and it seems a whole lot faster why is this??? Is there a difference?

If it came from a jeep cherokee then it wasn't a 3.9 V6. Jeeps have a 4.0 I6.

No 3.9s in Jeeps sorry.
2001 RC 4.7 5sp 9.25" 3.92 LSD
Ported 68mm throttle body, IAT adjuster, 3" flowmaster cat back, TPS @ .76V, 4" cold air, Roadmaster active suspention, Removed Third cat. Electric fan Convertion, HO cams installed.
Working on adjustable fuel pressure with return.

you could of blown the 2.2l in your 88 and repalced it with a 2.5 from a jeep..but not a 3.9..

nope jeeps only offer or have offered recently are 2.5 I4, 4.0 I6, 5.2 V8, 5.9 V8, 3.7 V6, 4.7 V8 and 4.7 V8 HO definatly no 3.9!!!
if its the 4.0 or 3.7 it should be faster because they're more powerful
