Subject: Coughs and driving me CRAZY IP: Logged
Message: Ok, here is what I have done... As you can tell allready this is more than likely my fault, but I can not retrace my steps to fix it!!!
It all started by my truck not idling right... Of course it never really has... It's always kinda searched through approximately 25 to 75 rpms, so I decided I was getting tired of it and started checking things to fix it...
I started by trying to adjust the idle, but that just made it search more, so I plugged the hole "where the vaccumm control thingy is" to try and adjust it more accurately... I got it adjusted about right as of this point and took my finger back out of the hole only to reallise the plunger was not moving in and out and the truck was stuck on 3000 rpms... So I had another one off of the old tb, so I used it, which it worked... BUT the rpms only came down to 1200 rpms...
Well I checked the tps only to find it reading 3.44 volts... I tried to reset it, only it was not responding, so I got the other modded one off of the old tb and set it to .89 volts... This fixed the rpm problem and now the truck is probably idling the best it ever has only now as your driving along and let off the throttle, it's almost as if it has a dead spot right at or around 1000 rpms and will just about cut the motor off at this setting then when you let off of the throttle the rest of the way it will jerk and pick back up...
I thought maybe the idle was set too low so I turned it back up a little "to the point just below where it wants to rev up more", but the kick, cough, or jerk is still there...
I also checked the tps to make sure it was completely registering all throughout the throttle range and it is... So I'm completely stumped ://
I'm sorry for the extremely long post, but I figured I had better explain everything...
I also just unhooked the computer to let it sit over night, because a check engine light was on and I just wanted to make sure that wasn't effecting anything...
Distributor is also tight and doesn't appear to be anything mechanical simply because it started after I changed the two sensors... The throttle response is also back now, assume that was from the bad funny registering tps...
Thanks for everything ahead of time...

Message: the correct setting is .7 thats right POINT & volts. as you already figured out 3.44 is way too hi and it did get better as the voltage reached .89 better but not perfect. Then to make it worse you went back towards the 3.44 and it got worse again so it stands to reason that since 3.44 is to hi and going towards it makes it worse and the "hi performance setting" is .7 maybe you need to try .7

Message: Actually I had the tps voltage set to .94 before then out of the blue it started reading as 3.44 volts... As long as it's under .98 there shouldn't be anything to worry about as far as the motor revving up...
Besides I meant to report back earlier but didn't have the time that the coughing has gone away completely after resetting the computer... It must have had something to do with the check engine light... Now all I have to do is try and set the tps back to the .93 volts and see if it will idle as good as it does at .89 volts, that way I can get my little, but not much, better fuel mileage back not to mention that it drove and had much better throttle response at the .94 volts setting...
