Message: I have a 97 Dakota with around 150,000 miles on it. It keeps blowing the 40 amp fuse for the starter and ign, relay. I have checked for loose connections and did find any. I replaced the fuse with a solid wire right now. I know that is not the best thing but it got me going on down the road. Anybody got any ideas on a fix or where to start looking. Any help is appreciated

Message: I would take that solid wire out ASAP. I'm not sure what your starter relay is rated to in amps but that will be the next thing to smoke if you don't have that fuse in there. If there was a short than that solid wire or relay would have burned up by now. I'm not sure what a stock starter draws for amps but your solenoid could be bad. Good luck.
