Subject: Brakes Lock up....
IP: Logged

Message:
I just bought by '02 Dakota about a month ago. It seems sometimes when i start my truck up and start going, my brakes lock up with just the slightest presure applied. This only happens sometimes when i start it up,sometimes its fine, and it stops happening after they lock up the first 2-3 times or the truck has been running for a little bit. Everyhtign seems fine, drives normal after that. Anyone else ever had this problem?

Im pretty sure they are the front brakes. Also, it seems to happen when the truck has sat overnight and i start it up in the morning or after rain. Maybe the water or dew in the morning has something to do with it?

is it just the rears locking up? if so, take off the rear wheels and drums. look at where the axle seal is. if it is covered with grease, you need to replace the axle seals. the grease will get on your shoes and on the inside of the drums and make them lock up with barely any pressure. clean them up with a wire brush/ sandpaper and brake cleaner.
