Subject: TB/Engine light IP: Logged
Message: About four months ago I purchased my 2000 Dakota Sport w/33k miles. It is my fourth Dakota. I decided to look on the internet for ways to improve the gas mileage. I came across this site and man have you guys been helpful. I installed a cold air intake, Dynomax Super Turbo muffler and a week ago a modified throttle body. Today my check engine light came on and the code I'm getting is P1294 - Target RPM not achieved during drive idle condition (possible vacuum leak or IAC lost steps) I took it into the local garage and was told the light came on because of the higher idle from the new TB and just get use to the light. Can anyone tell me if this is true or is there something I should looking to fix. Thanx...lugnut

Message: Try resetting the PCM...
disconnect neg. battery cable, turn key to start position and hold for 30 seconds.
Reconnect battery.
Start engine and let idle for a bit without ever touching the gas (it may start and almost die). Shut it off, start it, let it idle for a few minutes without hitting the gas again, shut it off, start it and drive it or whatever...

Message: If it idles high and the IAC is closed
take the plug out of the idle adjustment hole and
back it off
What throttle body did you use there is an
adjustment screw for the throttle just like the
old carbs but they have a cap over them on cable
bracket side you will see the stop on the throttle
arm.
If someone did the body they may have hit the
plate bores and it will alow to much air to enter
and make the IAC step all the way down but still
idle high and throw the code
should be around 20 steps at idle

Message: It is a V6 TB off of a either 1999 or 2000 Dakota. Now help me here, I'm about as mechanically un-inclined as they come. I will look for the adjustment screw, but the IAC and 20 steps down? What, where and how? Thanx...lugnut
