Subject: Detailed instructions for electric fan? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 3.9L Dakota and I just purchased a Flex-a-lite 15" single unit electric fan (The same fan that Speedtweaks and KRC Performance carry), and I was hoping someone might have detailed instructions on how to wire the fan correctly.
The instructions that came with the kit are too vague for me. (Example It says that if I want to hook the fan up so it runs only when the car is on, I have to wire it to SOMETHING in the fuse panel that only has power when turned on)
Instructions on what wire is to go where; where the wires are located under the hood. Any of that would be VERY much appreciated.

Message: i just bypassed that part and put in my own toggle switch so i can control when it is on and off. just put that wire to a live 12 volt source, i used my battery and then cut the wire from the control module to the fan and fan a switch into my cab. Steve

Message: On mine, I have the box wired the following way
C (A/C relay) - Wire is connected with the A/C clutch positive wire, use the 3way splice
M (manual switch) - Nothing
G (ground) - Wire is ran to the negative terminal of the battery
+ - Wire ran through the firewall to the Windshield wiper fuse (#11 I think/20 Amp fuse) in the fuse block under the driver side dash
B - Wire ran to the positive terminal of the battery
If you hook it up like this, then it will shut off after you turn the truck off.

Message: also, remember that you have to do something with your coolant over flow tank. i just used a saw and cut most of it off and left on the side that holds the tank. Steve

Message: on a '99 you dont have to do anything to your overflow bottle it is intergrated with the radiator and is not in the way.
