I have a 94 dodge dakota 3.9L V6 with the 5spd manual in it. I have the current mods on my truck:
JBA headers
Flowmaster 40 series muffler
Autolite 3923 spark plugs
180 degree thermostat
edelbrock air cleaner with k&n air filter
F&B throttle body
Flex a lite electric fan
My goal with my truck is to break 9's in the 1/8th mile without upgrading my engine internals and without forced induction. The last time I ran it at the track was before I had my electric fan, headers, and throttle body and I was running low 12's and one high 11. So what engine mod do you suggest next for my truck that could possibly put me into the 9 second range or am I probably already there?

Well, if you're gonna run on the bottle, you might want to modify your fuel injection system first to get HP shots from 75+.
BTW um, if you're going to sit and insult guys, you can take yourself away from these forums, they'd be so much better off without you.

hey man go back and try it now the TB makes a diff. im 10.58 and i dont have the fan nor headers but i do have a cold air instead of ur filter but my truck is a 99 ex cab 3.9 auto. cold air 3923 plugs borla muffler gutted cat. 180 t-stat TB IAT relocation TPS mod and truck has a tow' package on it so i think my gears maybe 373 or 355 and its dropped 3/5. my next mods are a chip and headers how does ur hdrs sounds anyways?

I don't really want to run nitrous. Like I said, I want to break 9's without forced induction (supercharger/turbocharger/nitrous) and without doing anything to my engine internals.
My headers sound great too. They add an extra depthness to your exhaust note that is mellow and you can tell when you first crank it up after the installation that it is breathing better. Mid/top end is better too.

hey man u never mentioned what gears you have in your truck, that will make a big diffrence. seeeing as ur trying o do a bunch of boltons try these out. 1.7 roller rockerarms, gut your cat, five o motorsports 19lb injectors, paired up to a msd 6a and blaster ss coil. go buy a die grinder and cut off wheel and make ur own ported intake manifold. do everything i just mentioned and u will have a smile on ur face. also is ur truck posi?

I don't really know what gears I have...stock, I guess. I've been considering the MSD ignition upgrade, and maybe the injectors. As for the rear end gears and locker, I don't really want to get into any of that because it's going to be my dad and me installing all of this. I don't want to pay to get it installed either because most shops take their time and I'll end up paying like $500 for just installation on something. I mean, the headers, which most exhaust shops in my town said would take 4-6 hours to install, only took my dad and I 3 hours to install. The roller rockers would be getting into the engine internals and I don't really want to do that right now. I'm just looking for basic bolt on's and any other mods that would complement the ones I have now.

You're an idiot Scythe,
You want 9's but you don't want to do anything to get there. There is no magic bolt on that will take 10 minutes to install and will shave 3 seconds off your 1/8.
Try moving your seat forward. That might just do the trick!

the 1.7 rockers are by far easier to install than the headers you banged your knuckles on. Hardest part about a rocker install is the cover removal, other than that, a torque wrench and a little elbow grease.
If you want speed ya gotta pay, or since you do not want to touch the engine, perhaps one of those dash mounted houla girls in a grass skirt, with swaying hips may make you think your faster.
Seriosly besides the bottle, which you don't want, you pretty much have covered the "easy" mods.

Yea its gonna be difficult to break 9s all motor. Im spraying a 150 shot of n20 on mine with headers, tb, 1.7rollers, msd6al, C/A intake, lightend flywheel, and more i just cant think and im barely getting 10.01's of course it spins like crazy but still.

I just listed a set of the 19 lb Bosch injectors on Ebay. They might help you out a bit. I am getting rid of my truck, so I don't need them anymore. (I put the old injectors back in.)

1) Try Chipping it
2) Hotter spark! is a Plus
3) Don't gut the CAT! Buy a higher flow cat you will looser alot of torque with a gutted CAT.
4) The Underdrive pullys are good too
5) Weight Removel might help
Also Pracice Shifting, the fasted you can shift the better, if you can learn how to full throttle shift that can help.
