I have just bought a 01 v6 5 speed witht he 3.9 and the tach goes up to 7000 rpm but it doesnt have a redling the tach is just black with the white lettering all the way up to 7 does anyone know the best shift point and what the redline is probably around? Thankx for any info.

i'm pretty sure the rev limiter kicks in at 5K on the 3.9L (4800 is where the power really drops off) unless its modded. theres only one way to find out where the limiter is :-) the 3.9L I had, had the best power around 3K or so. so try to keep your shift points so the next gear will land you in that range... its going to take some experimenting, just find a back road and give er' hell!!

on my 97 3.9 auto I left it in first and nailed it I looked down at the tach and saw 5400,
