Message: OK, so i'm buying 1.7 RRs, I want to put mopar performance valve covers on, will these work for my 2000 3.9L?
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?d=3&s=274&p=991&part=1948
They look really cool :)
If not, please direct me in the right direction.
Anyone had any problems just removing the baffle from the stock covers? What exactly is required to do this?
Also which reseler has the best RRs for the price?
also Comp? Crower? Mopar?
Would like to keep it in the $325 - $350 range if possible
Also Should I put anything else in while in doing the RRs? I.E. Stronger Valve Springs? Stronger Pushrods? If you could point to in the right direction that would be great!
Thanks guys!!!

Message: Oh yeah, one more thing, what do breathers do on the valve covers? is it to let off hot air out of the cover (i thought you wanted it sealed well)? is this something that comes w/ the covers or that can or should be installed?

Message: First off, I don't think anyone makes Blk crinkle valve covers for our 3.9L v6s. I think those at summit are for the old Mopar engines (preMagnum). I think they would have fit my '74 Charger 318. If they fit our 3.9s then a whole lot of us would have bought them.
Breathers. I remember having a breather on one side and PCV on the other on my '74 318. I think this allowed air movement inside the engine(not the combustion air)
Sorry, I'm too knowledgable on RRs.

Message: i know that the crower's are in that price range.
all i did to remove the baffle was to use a hammer and a screwdriver to bust all of the welds and then use a prybar....don't worry..the little welds will give before you bend the valve cover.

Message: Currently no one makes any custom valve covers for the 3.9 but you can look at the "Tripple plated valve covers" post on the "Group buy" listings.
Most would recommend the Crower 1.7's, they are supposed to be the easiest to install. KRC or try summit racing.
