you don't want to put true dual exhaust on a v6, you will really kill your performance even if you could get around the smog check inspection

if you want a cat back system where you have two pipes coming off the muffler i've heard numerous times here that you don't want to go larger than 2 1/4" each pipe

backpressure is a good thing to an extent, if you like loud go flowmaster if you want something not as obnoxious go with a dynoxmax super turbo muffler, you could just use your stock single pipe with these mufflers also if you don't have to have two pipes

This is the first post that put you in my sights. The ol' backpressure debate. Here's something to chew on. Should you continue with restrictive dual cat back after you upgrade intake with ram air, v8 tb, maybe a turbocharger, Hi perf camshaft with tuned lift/duration, and/or bored and stroked cycl's? Under what conditions would hi-flow exhaust be desirable. What about us with JBA performance headers. Note, seriously, modified engines often idle poorly and have subdued power at low rpm's. On purpose. They were set up for winding up the engine and launches. Go to a track someday. Sorry for all the bashing. Build power with modifications that improve the three basic elements of engine performance: Air (input, combustion, output), Ignition, Compression. Thats where it all lies. You're actually right. A little backpressure helps low end torque. My take is why go with dual exhaust, cat back or manifold to tip duals if you care about low end torque. At any rate--
dual cat back is a good place to start for basis of future performance upgrades. Thats a good "pro"
