Subject: Larry, question about 1/4" plenum plate. IP: Logged
Message: Do the aftermarket 1/4" plenum plates have a channel machined around the periphery to keep the gasket from getting sucked in, or is it just a flat plate of 1/4" aluminum with holes in it? The reason that I ask is because the OEM steel plenum plate looks pretty strong itself. Why does this method fail compared to aluminum? Thanks. Relf.

Message: The intake manifold is cast aluminum. Using a stock steel plate isnt a good idea. The cast aluminum and steel expand and contract due to the heat at different rates. Thus pulling apart from each other. Having the manifold and the plate made out of the same material would help with sealing

Message: The aluminum plate is just a plate with holes in it. No channel for the gasket.
