Subject: Manifold and Injectors IP: Logged
Message: I just finished putting on my Bosch four hole injectors from fiveomotorsports and with my ported, polished and gasket matched manifold the truck realy does run smooth with even more get up and go. I am real curious to see it my gas mileage improves. It may if I can keep my foot out of the accelerator pedal. I even had to replace the throttle cable because it was fraying and catching on the housing. btw Bruce really gets the injectors out to you quickly. I called late friday afternoon and had them in my mail box on monday morning. Way to go Bruce.

Message: xmr,
How noticeable was the intake manifold work?
I want to do that sometime in the next month or so. Could you maybe post the process of everything you did to get the intake off. I don't want to screw something up.
Thanks,
J-Man

I only noticed a small increase in power but that is the way that it has been on everything except the superchips and the 1.7 rockers both of those gave a very noticeable increase on power. I followed the instructions that were in my FSM. It was fairly straight forward but it would have saved time if I had known that I had to remove the entire aluminum frame that holds the alternator and the a/c compressor. I bought another manifold and had it ready to put in. I even got the billet plenum cover from Hughes engines at $71 I figured it was a good investment. I took my time and cleaned every thing as I went. After I got everything off but the manifold it still did not want to come off it seemed to be hanging on something. I finally pulled straight up and found that the back bolt on the passenger side was broken off just below where the cap should have been. It must have been broken when the manifold was installed at the factory because nothing has been done to the truck since it was new that would involve the manifold.

Message: Thanks xmr.
I am thinking my plenum gasket is gone too, but I am going to try that test tonight to see if I can tell for sure. I was hoping to get another manifold to mod, and then only have to worry about the swap. I think I will go with the old injectors (cash flow) but I'm gonna replace the cap and rotor and wires while I have a little more room to work back there.
I don't have an FSR for my truck, so I guess I'll just wing it!

I was amazed when I pulled my plenum plate off of my old manifold the gasket looked just like the new one that I put on with my new billet plate. I was expecting some sort of deteoriation after 143000 miles but it looked in great shape. The only trickey part of the plenum and manifold installation is the pattern that you use to tighten down the bolts. They both have a very specific pattern. I will see if I can copy the nfo and post it.

give it 200 to 500 miles to trim and it should
run very well, the FMS will spray more fuel than
the stock injectors, you should notice overall
smother running with better mid and top end from
just the injectors
As you said if you keep your foot out of it the
mileage will be better from the improved intake
flow 1 to 3 mpg
I am getting 22 city and 24 + highway 95 4X4 all
the mods stock 92 motor

Message: Hello Larry:
glad to see you posting. I also replaced my murry fail safe thermostat with a super stant and it is running exactly 185 degrees where the old one was running about 176. these things are a lot easier to do with the manifold out. When I can find the time I have a black magic 150 fan to put in. that should help some too.

Message: I am running the super stant mine runs 181 the
jet ran 168 not what they say they are and would
not recomend them
Stant superstat or a robertshaw are the best I
have found
Taking the big fan off and going electric will be
noticeable on the low end excelleration and also
help gas mileage
