Is the MSD6a good? Is it really worth it. Is the off road version any better?

i really liked my msd... helped out power in the top end a good amount and the msd6a with my 8.5 wires and msd coil, was the next best thing for fuel mileage second to the tonneau cover.

The only down fall is that the MSD makes a lot of spark and can cook your cap/rotor around 7500-10,000 miles.

Some say that's a weakness... i say it shows that the msd has a hotter spark than the others.

What kind of mileage boost did you get from that ignition?

when i added it, i got about a 2-3 mpg increase... but that was also with other stuff... saying that if you added the ignition to a stock truck, it probably wouldnt be as good.

overall the best mileage i got on my V6 was 27 mpg. I had recorded 25 mpg at the pump but then calculated for the 30" tires (yeah, i use to have my truck raised) and figured 27 mpg.

mods were;

mopar cold air intake
jet stage II
jba headers
msd 6a
msd 8.5 wires
msd blaster 2 coil
crower 1.7 rr
tonneau cover

i think that was it... that was so long ago though. With that, i even averaged 20-21 city.
