Subject: Brake Fluid leak IP: Logged
Message: My '96 Dodge Dakota has started to leak a small amount of break fluid, about 1/2 teaspoon overnight. The fluid hits the ground inside the driver's side front wheel. The leak is slow enough that it's hard to determine where it starts. I can see fluid in the engine compartment under the master cylinder, but I do not see any leaks in the master cylinder itself.
Any ideas? Is this a common problem?
I had the radiator flushed and the trans drained the day before spotting this leak. I don't see how they are related, but that's when I noticed it.
Thank you.

Message: Leak is probably at " back " of master
hidden by the vacuum booster !
Not necessarily common .
My 95 - over 100,000 miles is still on original
But I have seen this before on various vehicles.
Need to replace master..

Message: I had a brake fluid leak that was actually the seal in the caps. You can get replacement rubber gaskets for the caps on the resevoir. Replacing the gaskets completely cured the problem for me.
