Subject: Weird transmission line setup on 94 Dak IP: Logged
Message: I have been having a problem with leaking transmission lines on my 94 v-6 2WD Dakota. When I went to the dealer to get a replacement line, what they had looked nothing like what was on my truck. My truck has a weird setup where there is a blue anodized triangular block on the pressure port on the transmission, with the pressure line coming out of it and going to the radiator, while the return line runs from the radiator to this block, then out another line and back to the return port. Has anyone else seen a setup like this? I am not sure how this block is attached, I can move it slightly, so I think it is a snap-on fitting, but it looks like I'm going to have to take everything off to fix these leaks. The dealer says they have no knowledge of such a setup being offered from the factory, yet all the lines looked like factory lines.

Message: Anything on a Dodge "blue anodized" is not stock. Someone has made a replacment line. I cannot even picture what your talking about but I think I'm safe in saying that so long as the dealer line runs from your rad to the fitting on your tranny it will work, unless of course this setup you speak of replaces the standerd lock fitting that was stock. If so you will need to screw out whatever they have in the tranny housing and buy the stock type setup for the line to adapt to.
I suggest you find an area tranny rebuilder that does trannies for drag racing. You can do that by asking at any local HP parts places. Ask them if they can take care of the setup you have now.
Btw...all that aside you can simply try tightening all of the fittings yourself. Dont get crazy because the anodized ones are usually a soft metal.
Good luck

Message: I'm planning to take everything off and replace it with stock parts. The lines were rubbing on both the exhaust and shift lever, hence the leaks. Apparently this is not a factory installation or kit, but someone sure went to alot of trouble to install it. I thought maybe it was some kind of dealer kit to solve some problem long ago. I am hoping this block assembly will just come off easily.
