Message: I have a 3.9 in my truck right now, but I was wondering how much it would cost for an engine swap to a 5.9. I just want an estimate of the price of the engine, and also a ballpark for installation. Thanks.

Message: Hey, I have a post on the same subject in the Performance board.
I too am thinking of doing a 3.9l to 5.9l swap, and on a budget. My plan was to buy an older beater Ram 1500 or Dodge Diplomat and pull drive train and rad. I would keep the motor stock (at first, heh heh). From what I can tell, short of a couple minor mods (like motor mounts - minor!) it should drop in.
My budget? I dont want to spend more than $500 Canadian on the doner vehicle.

Message: Hi guys
Just wondering if a v8 4.7 5.2 or 5.9 well fit right in my 2002 dakota qc 4x4 3.9 v6.
If so well it bolt right in to my stock transmission. What year of motor would it have to be.Do i have to change driveshaft and gears.
Thanks

Message: 4.7 no
3.9 5.2 5.9 yes all will bolt right in place of
each other but you will need to use the flexplate
for the trans you are bolting it to
And add the #7 and #8 injector wires use the V8
computer
or change the engine wire harnass and computer
92 to 95 will need egr type intake
96 and up can use any motor just block of the egr
tube hole and make a plate to cover egr on intake
thats it
