Subject: timing IP: Logged
Message: Dose any one know what i should set my timing to?
It is a 02 dakota with a 3.9 with a s/c and i have a ignition with timing retard.

Message: A good rule of thumb is to retard timing 1 degree for every 2 pounds of boost increase.
As far as standard base timing, you can't change that.

Message: I can retard the timing from in side the truck up to 20* but i was told that i can do my base timing but i need to do some work on the C/S but will i blow my truck up if i do this?

Message: Spark timing is base set by Crank Position Sensor
in bell housing at back of motor.
NOT normally adjustable ..

Distributor controls fuel injector timing..

Message: I have a problem motor knocking. It's coming from the crankshaft. What's going on? Is it the sensor or what?
