Subject: Dakota or Jimmy?

I currently drive a '97 Dakota with 180,000 miles on it. The truck is great. Runs like champ. However, I have the opportunity to trade it for a 96 GMC Jimmy with 120,000. It is an SLT so it's loaded with all the good stuff too. I was wondering what you guys thought about a deal like this? What would you do? How much life do you think I might have left in my truck? My truck has always been meticulaously maintained. Thanks guys.

can't see why you'd want to trade. first, your truck still runs great from what you say. thats awesome. second, youd be trading to something that is a year older and also has high mileage, and you have no way of knowing exactly how much wear is on the powertrain. third, i couldn't see trading my dakota for a jimmy.

if i were you, i would stick with what works.

did you say the Jimmy is a SLT??

chevy has LS..

Honestly, i dont know if i would buy a vehicle with that many miles unless i really really needed another/"new" vehicle.

My brother has a 2000 Blazer LS 4x4 and it's nice.. just not the same room or function as the dakota.

6.6 Lt. Big Block, 727 TF shift kit, 452 heads, edelbrock 750 cfm, .513/.513 284/300 crower cam, comp cams springs, comp cams pushrods, 1.5 roller rockers, dp intake, mopar ignition, mopar windage tray, dual exhaust w/ 40 series flowmasters, 4.10 gears, coilover drag suspension, approx, 3500 lbs

Ya, the Jimmy is badged as SLT. It has all kinds of crap in it. Pretty nice. But my Dakota seems to have a ton more room up front than the Jimmy. I guess the only real benefit of the deal was the mileage. I was thinking about the lower miles and getting sort of excited, but I guess I'm afraid of it being a piece of crap. My Dakota runs GREAT, and I guess I really could end up screwing myself by trading it. Besides, I just installed XM radio in the Dakota...

Well my brother had a Jimmy. And ya go ahead with all you stupid slams, but this truck is like a tank. He came over here to NB to visit right after he bought and all we did for 2 weeks straight was bog through some pretty buck wild mud wholes. It aint no super swamper, but never got stuck at all. When I bought my dak and didnt make it through one day. But I still love this truck and I wouldn`t trade it at all
