Message: Have a '96 3.9L V6 Dakota 4wd. Check engine light came on, with code 47, o2 sensor.
Get the parts(upstream and downstream sensors) from Parts America, and the only ones that fit the plug in the wiring harness is for a '97 dakota? That was strange enough.
Disconnected battery, no check engine light for 2 days, then it comes back on. Bring it to a repair shop, where their scanner has them replace the upstream o2 sensor, again. (Going on the assumption that the first new sensor was bad). Check engine light returns 1 day later, and code again calls for code 47, faulty o2 sensor.
Any ideas?

Message: Not sure what you mean by 'How was the connector?', but it was clean as a whistle. Also, I'd have to look at it again, but I think it had the keyed connector with keys at about the 12 and 3 position.

Message: Ok.
Try -disconnect battery negative
then disconnect ' computer ' connector from
computer
then reconnect , reconnect battery
see if any improvement .
Some of these connectors do NOT keep a
good Electrical connection for too long..
Need to be " shiny "
