Message: Hey guys. Alright, well I'm planning on going to a junk yard to see if I can find a v8 throttle body for my '02 v6. I need to know if I need to get the tb off of a truck the same year as mine and if the tb needs to be off of a specific size engine, or will any v8 tb off a dakota work?

Message: Any v8 tb off a 96 and up Dakota will work...either size V8. Just don't get one that was made for the 4.7L...those are waaaay different. You may also need a new throttle cable.

Message: Appreciate it Josh. Thats all I need to know. Hopefully I'll be getting one this weekend if I can find a yard that has one. Can't wait for the difference in performance.

Message: i'd say just spend the little bit extra and go with a fastman tb. (around $250) it'll be ported and polished (v8 tb will still be stock bore shapes, horrible for airflow), will include an s-bolt and new gasket, and the throttle cable and everything will match up exactly. ive had one on mine for about 6 months now, still works just awesome.

Message: Go for the F&B... I dunno bout you all, but I prefer to keep my old parts. Fastman wants the cores, right? F&B's are brand new and require no core.

Message: Or what I did was buy an old V6 tb and I ported it myself... not as good as a Fastman or F&B, but a helluva lot cheaper. Though I'd highly recommend having somebody in a machine shop do it...using a Dremel isn't exactly the smartest way to do it (and I'm speaking from experience).
Sorry the pic is so small...it appears that CarDomain resizes the pics now. Prolly was costing em too much in bandwidth...if you look closely though, you can see where I nicked the tb with the dremel in a few spots.

Message: I'd go for the shift kit, but I'm a bit tight on cash and I'm kinda scared to mess with the transmission in it's current state...don't wanna make it worse. I was also reading that it's quite difficult to install using just the instructions because they're very general...nice to know so if I do get one, I'll know just to take it straight to a shop and have them try to decipher the damn things...lol
Btw...Going to Shelton Fireworks tomorrow...w00t! Gonna get me lots and lots of fireworks this year. God, I love being 18 finally. =)
