Subject: Sticking Throttle IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1992, 3.9L Dakota with 276,000 miles. Periodically the throttle will stick while driving. It is a 5 speed manual trans. Once stopped the idle will slowly come back down to normal, but once driving again the throttle will stick. It seems to happen when the AC or defrost are turned on, but will continue if you turn it off. This has been happening for years and I am now bothered enough and want to fix it. I have cleaned the throttle body with gumout and the cable seems to work smoothly. I think it is a sensor.

Message: Throttle Position Sensor is drivers side
lower part of throttle body.
Check from middle wire to chassis ( probe with
meter lead ) with key on - not running -
should read about 0.7 volts
may be 0.5 to 0.8 - 0.7 is ideal
then as throttle is increased - slowly
should [ smoothly ] increase to 4.0 to 4.5 volts
If not - that is your problem..
