Message:
My 2001 4x4 club 3.9L truck has just registered code #P1763.
Engine light came on, truck ran rough, stalled, restarted, ran OK and light stayed on.
Next day (light was still on), truck stalled in neutral, restarted, light went off and runs OK again.

The code means "Governor Pressure Sensor input is too high".
I found a TBS #21-04-00 that refers to this code.

Anybody know where I can get more info on this TBS?
Also, should I reset my computer to lose the code (the engine light seems to be staying off now)?

Thanks for any info.

your govenor pressure senser inside your tranny is feeding the pcm a voltage higher then the acceptable range, means you gotta tear into it and replace the senser, or find out why the tranny hydraulic pump is puuting more pressure to the govenor then it is supposed to.

So you're saying that I need to tear my transmission apart because a light came on my dash?

Must be a 'make work' program for mechanics. How did we ever drive cars before the computer and all those damn sensors?

The engine light has gone out now and the truck seems to be running fine. I think I'll leave well enough alone.

Ask that on a Beemer forum. Why would you ask that on a
dodge Dakota forum?
